Our Future for Kids family is deeply saddened. In August, we said goodbye to John, one of our 50 orphans, after a long and difficult illness. He was 25 years old.
John ist in unserem Waisenhaus in Rwaza aufgewachsen. Schon als Kind
John grew up in our Rwaza orphanage. From a young age, he struggled with walking and was later diagnosed with degenerative muscle disease.
About ten years ago, the orphanages in Rwanda were closed. Virginie, our orphanage mother, spontaneously took John into her family and has cared for him devotedly ever since. We are deeply grateful to Virginie for making this wonderful decision.
Two years ago, John could still sit in a wheelchair. In the end, he could no longer lift his head. Yet he remained cheerful and generous until his last day, delighted by every visitor and eager to talk. He kept in touch with his “siblings,” the children from the orphanage, using his tablet.
John, we are proud of you. You endured your suffering with great humility and patience. Your smile will remain in our hearts forever.
R.I.P. John!
